The Natural Resources Service Center provides financial and budgetary management services as well as human resource and employee relations services to the four natural resource agencies in the State.

JOB DUTIES: Make a difference in your career. As an Accounting Analyst Supervisor, you will be a critical member of the team managing the financial resources of the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry (DACF). DACF performs a wide range of duties from protecting the food we eat, preventing and stopping forest fires, mapping the ocean floor, keeping our parks and public lands pristine and accessible, planning wise land utilization, and helping beginning farmers.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide strong management, leadership and guidance to subordinate professional staff and other paraprofessional staff; 
  • Help DACF agency staff with the development and maintenance of federal and other grant award budgets as well as be an integral part in the application process to obtain financial resources that support DACF's mission and goals;
  • Analyze and verify the accuracy of various financial and statistical reports submitted by and to the Departments and consult with DACF senior managers to identify business needs, compliance issues, and reporting requirements.

Successful candidates will be knowledgeable of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and skilled in the use of standard desktop technology, particularly spreadsheets. While the position work location is in Augusta, there may be opportunity for occasional remote work within a structured work plan.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

a.) A Masters Degree from an accredited educational institution that includes at least 18 semester hours in accounting coursework; OR

b.) A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited institution that includes at least 18 semester hours in accounting coursework and 2 years of practical work experience providing complex technical accounting support in a professional accounting environment; OR

c.) An Associate's Degree in Accounting from an accredited educational institution and 5 years of practical work experience providing complex technical accounting support in a professional accounting environment; OR

d.) 8 years of practical work experience providing complex technical accounting support in a professional accounting environment. 

Accounting coursework must include successful completion of basic, intermediate, and advanced accounting principles. Experience must demonstrate a comprehension of accounting principles and standards established by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).

Strong preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate extensive supervisory experience of professional or paraprofessional employees.
