Job Description:
The Office of the Attorney General has two immediate vacancies for Assistant Attorneys General positions in the Health and Human Services Division. These positions are responsible for providing comprehensive legal services to the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, including the Office of MaineCare Services, the Office of Aging and Disability Services and the Office of Behavioral Health. Assigned duties will vary depending on the needs of the Office and the Division but will typically include advising DHHS with all aspects of administrative law and practice, providing day-to-day general counsel services, performing legal review of DHHS rules, and handling affirmative, defensive and appellate litigation in administrative forums and state and federal court.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must be members of the Maine Bar in good standing, have strong interpersonal skills, have an eye for legal detail, be interested in health and/or administrative law, have strong legal advocacy and writing skills, and the ability to function effectively as part of a team. One to three years of legal practice with experience with administrative law or health law is preferred.
