The Maine Department of Defense, Veterans and Emergency Management

Based out of the Maine Army National Guard’s Regional Training Center in Bangor, this position provides structure and craft work evaluating, planning, directing, and coordinating maintenance, care, and repair for facilities in Bangor and throughout Northern and Eastern Maine. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Inspecting facilities and grounds to maintain a facility condition and adequacy inventory, identifying and prioritizing needed repairs. 
  • Scheduling, monitoring and oversight of service contracts and repair/construction/reconstruction
  • Operating, troubleshooting, and completing minor repairs within the facility.
  • Monitoring and adjusting automated building controls.
  • Ensuring compliance with the National Guard Bureau’s physical security regulations.
  • Working under limited supervision, communicating effectively, and making independent judgments and decisions in accordance with established directives, policies, practices, and protocols.


Minimum Qualifications:

An Associates Degree in Building Technology and four (4) years experience in the building construction industry and/or building/property management -OR- an acceptable equivalent combination of directly related education, training, and/or experience.

Licensing and Security Requirements: (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).

Valid Class C Driver’s License

Candidates must pass a National Guard Bureau security background check prior to obtaining permanent status. 

Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating experience with automated building controls
