The Maine Department of Marine Resources, Maine Coastal Program (MCP) is seeking a qualified candidate for a limited period Marine Resource Management Coordinator position focused on protection, adaptation and expansion of Working Waterfront access. BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: This is professional services work coordinating state initiatives for working waterfronts as part of Resilient Maine, a multi-year investment in climate resilience. www.maine.gov/future/climate/resiliencegrant Primary responsibilities include developing and implementing policy, tools, vulnerability assessments, resiliency planning, programming and technical support to coastal communities to maintain and improve critical marine infrastructure and the unique fabric of Maine’s marine resources-dependent communities. The position will work closely with diverse multi-sector partners to strategize for future working waterfront needs and will advise the Maine Infrastructure Adaptation Fund on waterfront investments. This work requires extensive collaboration with other state, federal, non-profit, municipal, and research organizations supporting Maine's working waterfronts and the heritage industries that rely upon them, including leading and facilitating large and diverse groups to reach consensus.

This position will be located in our Augusta office with teleworking options available.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, training, and/or experience demonstrating technical expertise in marine resource and aquaculture program management or development and implementation of complex marine resource focused conservation projects.

Preferred Qualifications for this position include a minimum of two years’ direct experience or extensive knowledge of the marine economy, local or regional coastal land use planning, and/or a graduate degree. Additional experience we are looking for: strong interpersonal and communication skills, analytical and writing skills, demonstrated successful leadership of large and diverse groups, program management skills, ability to manage multiple projects at the same time, experience conducting meetings, building consensus, and dealing with contentious issues, ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, and willingness to travel.
