About the Position:
The Bureau of Motor Vehicles is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for administering and analyzing complex accounting records, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and preparing a variety of financial reports. The ideal candidate will have experience in governmental accounting, a strong understanding of financial analysis, and the ability to communicate effectively with staff across departments.

In this role, you will:
- Administer and analyze complex accounting records in compliance with federal and state requirements.
- Monitor and analyze general and specialized accounts, initiate transfers and adjustments, and perform account reconciliation.
- Prepare complex financial reports and summarize financial information related to federal funds.
- Analyze and verify the accuracy of financial and statistical reports submitted by department staff.
- Prepare and input data into electronic accounting systems for generating and distributing reports.
- Review and reconcile accounts payable to balance accounts and prepare necessary reports.
- Prepare trial balances, financial statements, and schedules for audit preparations.
- Review pre- and post-audits, approve audits, and analyze general ledger account balances.
- Support, lead and train employees in accounting processes and systems, supporting projects and assignments.
- Develop and implement methods for utilizing computers and specialized office equipment in accounting tasks.
Preferences will be given to candidates who have:
- Previous experience in a senior accounting role within a government or public sector environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in assessing accounting processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing effective solutions.
- Proven ability to quickly adapt and effectively contribute in a dynamic work environment.
Minimum Qualifications: (Entry level knowledges, skills, and/or abilities may be acquired through, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO the following course work/training and/or experience).
- Intermediate education, training, and/or experience in accounting, business administration, finance, or another closely related field demonstrating competency in applying accounting principles and standards, reviewing and monitoring business transactions, and providing technical support.
