The DPFR Office of Professional and Occupational Regulation, Plumbers Examining Board needs a Senior Plumbing Inspector to protect the public health, safety and welfare. The Senior Inspector works independently throughout the state to:
- Educate and assist Local Plumbing Inspectors
- Help educate Plumbers on updated codes
- Respond to complaints against plumbers
- Assist the general public with plumbing related issues
- Educate plumbers on current and changing codes, including preparing and presenting educational programs
- Educate Local Plumbing Inspectors on plumbing codes so they can enforce those codes throughout their communities.
- Assisting LPIs with complaints or unusual inspections and advising on same.
- Develops standard operating procedures for the plumbing inspectors in order to ensure proper job performance.
- Investigates complaints and alleged violations and testifies as an expert witness at court hearings in order to determine validity and provide information.
- Help develop and maintain State licensing examinations
Skills or knowledge required:
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to write clearly and effectively.
- Ability to investigate complaints and take appropriate action.
- Ability to explain violations and provide instruction in proper applications and procedures
- Ability and willingness to prepare and provide presentations to large groups as well as small ones
Minimum qualifications:
Four (4) years experience as a Licensed Master Plumber.
LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).
Master Plumbers license and Maine Drivers license.
Preference will be given to those applicants:
Due to the importance of the education piece of this position, preference will be given to those applicants with an education background.
