  • Problem-Solving: Capable of analyzing financial records and spotting inconsistencies or missing information.
  • Attention to Detail: Precise and thorough when reviewing applications, records, and payment reconciliations.
  • Professionalism: Shows respect, accountability, and integrity in all interactions.

Key Competencies We Value:

  • Emotional Intelligence: Understands and responds to customer and coworker needs with empathy and professionalism.
  • Conflict Resolution & Feedback: Stays calm under pressure and responds constructively to questions and concerns.
  • Time Management: Balances multiple tasks, meets deadlines, and keeps things moving with efficiency.
  • Commitment to Excellence: Demonstrates pride in their work and strives to get things right the first time.
  • Continuous Improvement: Always looking for ways to make systems and processes more effective.

In this role, you will:

  • Review and verify IFTA license applications, fuel tax returns, and Maine-only decal requests for accuracy and completeness.
  • Respond to inquiries from commercial carriers and the public via phone, email, fax, mail, and walk-ins.
  • Assist customers in navigating the IFTA/IRP online system.
  • Process credential requests and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Reconcile payments and ensure that collected revenue matches expected amounts.
  • Provide technical support to customers and collaborate with internal teams to improve service delivery.

Preferences Will Be Given To Candidates Who Have:

  • Experience working with financial documents, taxes, or licensing systems.
  • A background in state government, commercial motor vehicles, or regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and an aptitude for learning new systems (including Tableau).
  • Excellent communication and math skills.
  • A commitment to customer service and public service excellence.
