JOB DESCRIPTION
The Department of Administrative and Financial Services (DAFS) Office of Information Technology (MaineIT) provides information technology support to over 13,000 employees. MaineIT oversees large-scale enterprise applications that support the critical and diverse business needs of the State and its agencies.

This position reports to the Director of the Cloud Center of Excellence within the Office of Information Technology. This position will support the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE) by implementing and overseeing cloud standards, governance, guardrails, and architectures across MaineIT and the Executive Branch. This role will help bridge existing gaps and ensure consistent technical and business requirements are properly vetted and implemented throughout this new program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with architecting State of Maine cloud infrastructure utilizing AWS, Azure, and Oracle cloud environments.
- Solve hard core technology problems around availability, scalability, performance in the cloud, and prevent significant business impacting risks.
- Work with stakeholders and vendor partners on cloud solutions and cloud optimization topics.
- Work with Enterprise Architecture and Platform Teams to document and present methodologies and architectural documents to operations, engineering, and executive teams.
- Design, develop, publish and maintain reference architectures for Cloud technologies.
- Assist with design in cloud applications/database guidelines, standards, best practices and operational readiness model for the various cloud platforms.
- In collaboration with Cybersecurity, assist with designing redundancy and resiliency for cloud environments and assist with the planning and documentation of DR and plans for the cloud platforms.
- Helps deliver a cloud services catalog roadmap to best determine processes and procedures to continually analyze and adopt new native cloud services (i.e. cloud native storage, DBaaS, Serverless Compute, etc.)
- Assists with defining and creating reference architectures based on standardized technologies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of and understanding of cloud architectures and implementation across IaaS, PaaS and SaaS services.
- Ability to identify risk as it relates to MaineIT policy, cloud services and desired outcomes
- Ability to collaborate with subject matter experts across MaineIT to develop a concise position on cloud services, products, and services.
- Knowledge of Cloud concepts and tools.
- Knowledge of cloud (AWS, Azure, OCI) architectures and implementation or equivalent experience with vendor specific cloud certification.
- Knowledge of risk assessment processes for information technology systems as outlined in NIST Publications.
- Knowledge of information security controls outlined in NIST Special Publication 800-53.
- Ability to translate business requirements to technology requirements.
- High level of attention to detail reviewing complex documents related to cloud architecture and solutioning
- Ability to conduct research, analyze, and communicate risks associated with implementation of solutions or approved architectures
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of 8 years of a combination of related post-secondary education, technical certifications, or technology related work experience. Related training, internship experience etc. may be credited as related experience on a month-per-month basis
